I got rid of my Sony WH-1000XM5s

Obviously, you would think this law helps people stay safe online, but in reality, someone using a VPN, like Mullvad, could easily bypass it, so it just defeats the point.

And then, you have sketchy companies trying to take your ID. The amount of data breaches is insane, why would you let your ID be in said breach, even if they "delete it after verification" (one small bug could keep it there, like the Tea app.)

It's also putting a foot into the door. First it's NSFW content. Then it's anything the government does not like. It's madness.

Do not use a VPN. That would make your lawmakers very cross. They know what is best for you.

You're free to enjoy the rest of the blog posts not tagged with geo-restricted. You could also move to another location, but that's expensive.

I loved my Sony WH-1000XM5s. However, after having the hinge fail twice on me in a short span, I got rid of them and replaced them with the Bose QuietComfort Ultras.

The XM5s are a pretty remarkable set of headphones. Wonderful Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and great battery life. But these, and other WH-1000XM series headphones have a fatal flaw: the hinge. It’s a comment complaint among internet forums. It’s literally impossible that Sony does not know what’s going on with their headphones.

Updating also lead the headphones to turn off randomly after a “pop”, because of course they did.

So of course, trying to contact them for a replacement goes nowhere. Multiple customer service representatives said that it wasn’t covered. This was my last straw with these headphones and Sony. I took them back to Best Buy and swapped them out for Bose QuietComfort Ultras.

Goodbye Sony, and fuck you.
